Don your brightest crocheted tam and head out to the Jamaican Jerk Festival for a plateful of culture. Sure, there will be cultural stages featuring traditional folk songs, poetry, limbo dancing, fire eating and such, along with a domino tournament, a cricket competition, and a wine and food pairing lesson, but we know what youÂre really after: the eats. Plan to chow on authentic Jamaican jerk in various incarnations (jerk ice cream, anyone?) and watch it being made during the three-hour Jerk Chef Cook-off (canÂt we just shorten that to ÂCooks Jerk-off?Â) for a $1,500 top prize. Check out the scene from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Markham Park (16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise) with the purchase of a $12 ticket at the door or $7 in advance. For more information, call 305-405-2712, or visit www.jerkfestival.com.
