Today Denver, tomorrow the Twin Cities.
The provocateur who brought you "Piss Christ" pinches off a new concept.
Theres no question that taking a date for drinks along the banks of the New River is a uniquely romantic endeavor, but why not up the ante a bit and have those drinks on the New River? Now you can, thanks to the Atlantic Coast Kayak Co.s (1869 S. Dixie Hwy., Pompano Beach) latest excursion, Moonlight Kayaking & Wine Tasting on the New River.
Heres how it goes down: Boaters will launch from the Griffin Marine Park in Dania Beach and set off along the South Fork of the New River. Youll travel upstream, and if the current is not too strong, head up a small section of the Tarpon River past cute houses and under a canopy of foliage. About halfway through, the kayak armada will tether up, and the guides will bust out the good stuff: bottles of red and white vino and accompanying snacks like hummus and slices of cheese and crackers. And what could be more picturesque than sharing a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with a special someone, the harping noises of downtown Lauderdale replaced by the tranquil hum of wildlife over moonlight-kissed water? The tour costs $45 per person, or $30 if you bring your own equipment. Reservations are required, so call 954-781-0073, or visit www.atlanticcoastkayak.com.
