Quick – which famous political activist was both a founding member of the Black Panther party and the author of the cookbook Barbeque’n with Bobby? If you answered Bobby Seale, you’re correct. If you guessed wrong, a black history quiz is necessary.

During Taste of Black History at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center (2030 Polk St., Hollywood) you can freshen up your knowledge with a quiz, and then settle in for spoken word, interactive cultural dance, and Southern eats. The event runs from noon to 2 p.m. and costs between $6 and $8. Call 954-921-3408.
