Ever since you were a little teeny-bopper, you’ve always dreamt about getting on stage at Respectables (518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach). You’ve planned the whole scenario out in your head: There you’ll be, perched above the anxious crowd of mop-haired hipsters who swoon at your every move. With a flick of your head, you throw back your jet-black tresses and raise your axe on high. The crowd goes ghostly silent. Then, in one whirlwind of motion from your right arm, you set sail a devastating attack on your guitar’s strum bar, releasing waves of…. wait, wait, wait a second. Strum bar? Shit, dude… your dream’s been invaded by video games! You’re not Chud Masterson, ace guitar player; you’re the master of the plastic, buttoned axe from Rock Band!

But, hey, buck up, kiddo. At least your dream can totally become reality, because tonight and every Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 11 you can participate in Respectables’ Rock Band Party. The folks at Respecs have the whole shebang running: Drum kit, guitar, and mic, complete with stand? Check! All the downloadable songs, including the brand new Nine Inch Nails content set? Check! A huge projection screen and digital sound, hooked up through the club’s own ass-kickin’ sound system? Right on! The play is kept friendly – no competitions here, at least not now – so virtual bands of all skill levels are invited to pop in and sign up. There’s no cover a’ tall, and you can stick around afterwards to hear DJ GG and DJ Rodney (Mayo!) spin indie music throughout the night. Visit www.respectablestreet.com.
