South Florida is fertile ground for galas of all varieties, and rarely, dear readers, do we suggest these swanky affairs as must-do events. But each summer one organization throws a bash so elaborate, so decadent, and, damn it, so deserving of support that you need to be informed of its existence. It’s the 18th Annual “Celebration of Summer” event to benefit Hospice by the Sea, and, darlin’, it’s spectacular.

Your ticket ($75 in advance, $100 at the door) gains you access to sumptuous samples from 15 local favorite restaurants, like Casa D’Angelo and Max’s Grill in one wing of the Boca Raton Country Club (6200 Boca Del Mar Dr., Boca Raton). In another region you’ll find 50 varieties of wine — from national to international — waiting to be sipped. When your belly can’t handle any more delicious food and drink (translation: you need to walk it off or take a nap) stroll through the seductive tentacles of the silent and live auctions. Be lured in by their amazing prizes, like a ride in the Goodyear blimp, a weekend Lamborghini rental, sports tickets, romantic getaways, and oodles more. It’s all so terribly glamorous that you might forget your greenbacks are serving one of the most important, heart-felt, organizations in all of South Florida. So dress up, head out, and give back to your community tonight from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Call 561-416-5009, or visit www.hospicebytheseafl.org.
