Give Back and Say “Spaaah”

“If momma’s happy, everyone’s happy,” Carla Bell says with a chuckle. She’s explaining the unique vision behind Spaaah Day, the newest event being put on by her organization, The She Market Inc. The party promises to be so spectacular, so lavish, so… girly, that you might forget how much good you’re doing. You see, the She Market Inc. is a locally based non-profit that Bell founded two years ago. The organization pulls together volunteers from all aspects of the beauty, fashion, wellness, and the creative arts industries to put on cool events targeted at women. The proceeds brought in from these luxurious get-togethers go directly to the Pace Center for Girls, a program that keeps young women out of the criminal justice system by providing education and promoting healthy living.

At Spaaah Day all aspects of health and beauty are combined and offered to the public. So $35 at the door gets you a 20-minute mini yoga session taught by Fort Lauderdale’s best yoga studio, Red Pearl; 20-minute mini manicures and chair massages; a hair styling station; and even a beauty bar where you can play with make-up and/or have a professional color application done. It’s Saturday night, so you’ll leave Spaaah Day a more toned, coiffed, and seductive vixen than you were when you entered, while still paying it forward. It’s an important combination, Bell says. “In the effort to take care of and support everyone else, [women] ignore themselves.
