Eclectic Saturdaze

If you believe PRL Euro Café (1904A Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood) owner Jay Rottermund, Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa is just a “sexy, communist name for Poland.” Actually, it means People’s Republic of Poland, which as any respectable drinker knows, is another way of saying beer, delicious beer. But PRL’s award-winning beer selection (New Times' Best Of 2007) is not the star of the show tonight. Tonight it’s all about the Brazilian-rooted Rodrigo Z’s selection of dubstep, experimental, and drum and bass.

Eclectic Saturdaze, one of PRL’s longest-running nights, happens every third Saturday of the month and features Rodrigo Z along with several guest DJs who share his passion for the aural arts (and for the free beer that comes with the gig). PRL has about 140 beers to choose from and there’s at least twice as many two-step combinations you can do as Rodrigo and Co. spin the likes of Vaccine, Mala, Burial, and other grimy danceables from 9 p.m. till 2 in the morning. Call 954-980-8945.
Third Saturday of every month, 9 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 13. Starts: July 19. Continues through Dec. 31, 2008
