Get Up to Get, Get, Downtown

Twenty bucks barely gets you a drink and an appetizer at a nice restaurant these days, but tonight, $20 is enough for you to get your complete glutton on at Riverwalk Get Downtown. That’s right: for a measly Jackson, you’ll get access to a three-hour celebration of downtown culture in Fort Lauderdale, with fancified eats and free-flowing drinks.

Now in it’s tenth year, Get Downtown is a massive block party that sections off part of SE Fourth Avenue where it meets Las Olas Boulevard and Stiles Plaza (333 E. Las Olas Blvd.). Inside party central, revelers will get to sample freely from grub provided by 13 Fort Lauderdale restaurants, including Big City Tavern, Bimini Boatyard, Chima, the Grill Room on Las Olas, Sublime, and the new YOLO Restaurant & O Lounge. Plus, you’ll get to wash it all down with two free drinks courtesy of Svedka Vodka and Redwood Creek Wines. The last Get Downtown event drew over 1,500 people and raised $20,000 for the Riverwalk Trust, an organization that promotes cultural growth in Fort Lauderdale’s New River district. Organizers expect an even bigger turnout this time around. Game time is 5 p.m.; get your tickets online at goriverwalk.com, or at the door for $5 extra.
