This Pompano restaurant is flush with Mexican émigrés drinking shots of Herradura and Cazadores at the bar and traveling cantantes serenading couples and families -- all busily devouring traditional plates priced less than a ticket to the movies. Come for the margaritas -- lime, tequila, and orange liquor, shaken until thick and frothy with just the right amount of bite from the rock salt that sinks down the sides of the glass -- and a vast array of placas -- enchiladas; marinated carne asada tacos; hand-made sopes; broiled fish; carnitas (served with a salad of tangy cactus petal); and southwestern fare like chipotle-dipped chicken wings and chile Colorado, each served with the ubiquitous chips and salsa (salsa bright and simple, chips warm and salty) and rice with refried or charro beans (Mexican pork and beans with chorizo and bacon).
